COMPETITION FORMAT AND RULES
Competition Format
The competition format for 2007 International Goalball Tournament consists of two phases - the preliminary phase and the final phase. A total of 8 men’s teams will take part in the competition. In total 24 matches will be played. The competition will be conducted as follows:
Preliminary Phase
The preliminary phase will consist of two pools of 4 teams each in a single round robin format. A total of 12 matches will be played for the competition in order to determine the pool ranking.
Final Phase
After the single round robin, the 8 teams will play against each other in a single elimination format in quarterfinals, with 1st in pool A vs 4th in pool B, 2nd in pool A vs 3rd in pool B, 3rd in pool A vs 2nd in pool B, and 4th in pool A vs 1st in pool B.
The 4 winning teams will advance to the semifinals and the 4 losing teams will compete in classification round to determine places 5 to 8.
The 2 winning teams from the semifinals will play the gold medal match and the 2 losing teams will play for the bronze medal.
Goalball Rules
The goalball competition will be held in accordance with the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball Rules, Edition 2006~2010, which is available from the IBSA and may be found on internet website www.ibsa.es.
