Smile for smiles
(Beijing, September 14) 13th September, the International Goalball Tournament kicks off finally after several days’ preparation and on-site practice in advance. Although the morning sun doesn’t appear as usual and the rain drops keep falling down, we volunteers are still very excited about the upcoming matches and tasks. I woke up a little earlier this morning and the tiredness had faded away in spite of burning the night oil the previous night.
Thursday morning 7 30
I arrived at my workplace-doping Control Station which seems quite mysterious to the outsiders. Putting on my Good Luck jacket and my pass card, I’m ready to take this challenge both physically and mentally.

A meeting was held by our manager .He arranged our work and encourage us to be concentrate and do a perfect job. My heart-beat becoming fast because I feel the responsibility on my shoulder and the honor of Beijing Olympics Volunteers and even the image we leave on the foreigners on behalf of our country. Fortunately, we can watch the game first to figure out the route of the players and decide where to inform the player. Therefore we went through the staff stairs and reached the audience platform .As the match required the spectators should keep quiet when the game is on for a reason that the players can only depend on the sound from the ball to locate so we just sitting silently and enjoy the match.

An IF official’s sudden arrival turn out to be the first unexpected situation. The official came without a pass card and our manager was just absent. However, our volunteers explained patiently to he official that the rules demand a pass card to enter the station whatever his position is.
Our volunteers’ English ability proved to be qualified and the official was satisfied with our work.
Volunteers’ smiles represent Beijing and China. In the stadium, our smile can be seen anywhere. Maybe we have been standing for a whole day or maybe we had no time to have our lunch,. However, there is no complaint and the smile is still shining brightly and will last forever!
