China outplayed by Denmark 8-6 in last group match

(Beijing, September 14) In today's Group A heats of the 2007 International Goalball Tournament, China, who had previously beat Lithuania and Canada for two straight wins, suffered its first defeat in Group A at the hands of Denmark with 8-6.

In the first half Denmark opened the score on a penalty throw. The two sides then exchanged threatening throws with China leading in the first half with 5-2.

Four minutes into the second half, Denmark scored two more goals to turn the score at 5-4. After a time-out China's Yao Yongquan threw a bouncing ball over a Danish player across the opposing goal, 6-4. The Danish team played fast to break the Chinese defense and tied the score at 6-6. At this critical moment, Denmark scored again with a penalty throw to lead 7-6. Soon they added one more goal with a direct throw and managed to keep the score of 8-6 till the end of the game.
