(Beijing, September 14) In today's last Group A match of the 2007 International Goalball Tournament, Lithuania thrashed Canada 11-2 to clinch its third straight win in the two-day heats.

As the last group match, the game between these two teams was considered very important as the result of the game would directly affect the rankings of other Group A teams. Prior to that, China had two wins and one loss, Denmark one win and two losses, and Canada and Lithuania one win and one loss each after two matches.

Both Lithuania and Canada displayed excellent attack and defense at the beginning of the game. Three and a half minutes into the first half Lithuania opened the score with 1-0. After Canada tied the score 1-1, the Lithuanians showed obvious superiority by scoring seven goals in succession. However, the Canadian team managed to score one more goal, which turned out to be their last for the game. Lithuania continued to expand its win by rolling the ball across the opposing goal line on three more occasions, thus winning its third and last group match in two days.
