Sweden beat Denmark 8-6 to make semifinals

(Beijing, September 15) In today's last quarterfinal match between Sweden, winner in Group B, and Denmark, last in Group A, the Swedish team defeated its Danish counterpart 8-6 to enter the semifinals, together with China, the United States and Lithuania.
Sweden, made up of players with great strength and rich experience, remained unbeaten in Group B preliminaries. Denmark, despite placing last in Group A, showed its strength by beating host China in its last group match. In today's quarterfinal match the two teams fought a close battle throughout the game. Two minutes into the game Denmark opened the score with a fast throw, but the Swedish side soon seized a chance to tie the score at 1-1. Following that, the Swedes played fast to score two more goals, 3-1. After a time-out, the Danish team managed to tie the score at 3-3 with effective long throws. The first half ended with another tie at 4-4.
In the second half, both teams put up fierce attacks and tight defense. The Swedish players then successfully scored three goals in a row till another time-out called by the opposing team. The Danish side began to counterattack and scored through a penalty throw, 7-5. In the last three minutes the two teams took turns scoring one more goal each before the end of the game.
