Beijing, September 15 – Comments from coaches and athletes of Denmark and Sweden after their quarterfinal match.

Gregers Lehrmann Bruun (Coach of DEN)

On defeat::

“We didn’t do very well. We lost four in eight penalties today. At decisive moments, we didn’t die to make difficult shots.”

On opponent:

“We have had a lot of matches together. We know each other very well. They usually move a lot on the court.”

On Peter Weichel’s (DEN) illness:

“Peter has been sick for five days. He is still not very well. I think we will call for a doctor today.”

Martin Enggaard Pedersen (DEN)

On his penalty saving ability:

“It’s purely by chance. I have played against Sweden before so I know how they shoot.”

On impression of Beijing:

“I have been to Tian’anmen Square. It’s really huge. Maybe next year I will come and feel it more clearly.”

On next opponent (Japan):

“I haven’t played against Japan before. But I hope we will win. We need the victory.”

Henrik Bergkvist (Coach of SWE)

On the match:

“It was a difficult match. We had too many penalties in the beginning. We were being too aggressive so it’s hard to focus.”

On the next opponent (Lithuania):

“Lithuania is a very strong team, but I think if we can have a good start, and try not to be too aggressive, the chance of winning is high.”

Niklas Hultqvist (SWE)

On conceding eight penalties:

“We didn’t get into good positions, and didn’t concentrate on the match.”

On Denmark:

“We are very close, and we sometimes train and have competitions together. It was a very difficult match today. We led in turns.”

On volunteers:

“They are very friendly, very good, especially their big smiles. I can get help from them very easily.”

On arrangement after the game:

“We will go shopping, but we don’t have the time to look around in Beijing. I hope next year we can. After we go back to Sweden, we will continue training and attend other tournaments.”

On dedication:

“If we are the champions of this tournament, the first people I will talk to will be my parents.”
