(Beijing, September 16) In the bronze-medal match between Lithuania and the United States held this afternoon, Lithuania trounced the USA 5-2 to take the bronze medal. The USA placed fourth.

Both teams put up a high-level performance. After two minutes the US squad launched an attack but the ball bounced across the sideline from their opponents' goal post. Lithuania then scored two goals, both on penalty throws.

In the second half, the USA came from behind to earn one goal. Lithuania followed with two more goals, one with a long, corner throw and the other a big crosscourt throw. After making a substitution the USA scored again, but with another penalty throw being blocked by their opponents the Americans failed to turn the table in the remaining time.
